How does the Smart Cruise Control technology work in the Kia Ceed?

I have recently purchased a Kia Ceed and I'm curious about the Smart Cruise Control feature. Can anyone explain to me how it works and if it's worth using?

The Smart Cruise Control uses radar sensors to detect the distance and speed of the vehicle in front of you. It then automatically adjusts your speed to maintain a safe distance. It's definitely worth using for long drives or heavy traffic.
