Why is my Kia Sorento experiencing rough shifts?

I recently purchased a used Kia Sorento and noticed that the shift between gears feels rough. What could be causing this issue?

The most common cause for rough shifts on a Kia Sorento is a dirty or clogged transmission filter. This should be replaced every 30,000 miles or according to your owner's manual.

E

Another possible cause could be low transmission fluid levels. Check the transmission dipstick and add fluid if it is low. If the levels continue to decrease, there may be a leak in the system that should be addressed by a mechanic.

A faulty transmission solenoid can also cause rough shifts. Have a mechanic run a diagnostic test to determine if this is the issue and replace the solenoid if necessary.

It's also possible that the transmission itself is wearing out or experiencing mechanical issues. If none of the above solutions remedy the problem, it is recommended to take your Kia Sorento to a trusted mechanic for further examination.
