Why is my Kia Ceed making a squealing noise while braking?

I just recently purchased a Kia Ceed and I've noticed that whenever I press on the brakes, there is a loud, high-pitched squealing noise. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It is likely that your brake pads are worn out and need to be replaced. This is a common issue in newer cars and can easily be fixed by a mechanic.

I had the same issue with my Kia Ceed. Turned out that there was a small rock stuck between the brake rotor and the pad, causing the noise. I removed it and the noise went away.

If the squealing noise only occurs when the car is wet or after it has rained, it could be a sign of rust on the brake rotors. You may need to get them cleaned or replaced.
