What is the difference between a Kia Niro hybrid and a plug-in hybrid?

I am considering purchasing a Kia Niro and I am confused about the difference between a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Can you explain the technical differences between the two?

Hi Samantha, both the Kia Niro hybrid and the plug-in hybrid use a combination of an electric motor and a gasoline engine. However, the plug-in hybrid has a larger battery and can be charged externally, allowing for longer electric-only driving range.

Hey Samantha, the main difference between the two is the all-electric range. The Kia Niro plug-in hybrid has a larger battery, so it can travel on electricity alone for around 26 miles before the gasoline engine kicks in. The regular hybrid can only go a few miles on electric power.
